Course content
Discussion of the latest results in the field The development of England in the 17th century - a thorny path to the formation of constitutional monarchy. Evžen Savojský - a commander, politician, collector, Maecenas with no family. Aristocracy during Baroque times. The Age of Reason. Josefinism - an attempt to reform the Old World.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce selected topics from the Medieval history of the 17th and 18th centuries. The path to this aim leads through individual regular reading, abstracts, discussions of selected topics, and the presentation of semester team projects.
Students will be able to analyse early modern sources, they will also orientate in the modern bibliography dealing with early modern ages and they will learn to solve basic research tasks (reports, critiques, essays, etc.)

Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

Credit depends on the student actively preparing for seminar outcomes (an abstract, regular discussion on the readings, final project); writing twelve literary abstracts connected to the history of the Early Modern Period (a minimum of 10 titles, with a maximum of 2 studies); and passing the semester test.
