Course content
The illegal organization The Nation Defence. The illegal organization Petition Board Stay Loyal. The illegal organization Political Center and Central Conduct of the Country Resistance Movement. Parachute units from the West. Parachute units from the East. The Partisan Movement. The illegal organization Council of Three and the military resistance movement at the end of the war. The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the resistance movement. The May Rebellion of the Czech nation and the Czech National Board. The Protectorate government and its changes; President Emil Hácha. Nazi occupation organs. The political system of the Protectorate - National homogeneity. Holocaust in the Czech countries. The Czech fascism - the flag, Czech Association for Cooperation with Germans, and others. Culture during the Protectorate. R. Heydrich, 1st martial law, Heydrich's assassination, 2nd martial law. Nazi persecution in the Czech countries. Air war above the Czech countries.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce to students the problematic conditions in the Czech and Moravian Protectorate, its inner organization, offices and everyday life during the occupation. Special attention will be paid to the issue of the resistance movement at home as a whole and to individual resistance movement groups.
Students will get a knowledge of inner life in the protectorate, of its main institutions, personalities and individual groups and streams of resistance.
