Museum as a place of a specific relationship of man to reality. Position of a museum as an institution in the society and culture and its relationship to other "memory" institutions. The museum in the world and in the Czech lands, historical development. Museum studies as a discipline, structure and basic starting points of the research. A museum collection - selection, thesauration and presentation. Specialized museology - relationship between museology and other disciplines. Applied museology - museography. Museum expositions. Museum pedagogy. Museum management. Museum marketing and advertising. Museum legislation.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of this seminar is to introduce a discipline "museum studies" from the point of view of both theory and practice to students. Student will work independently on given topics in a form of presentations and their discussions.
Students will get basic knowledge of the work of a museum in the field of archaeology.

Writing a semestral essay (size: 5-7 pages), presenting a short paper (10 minutes), active participation in the discussions.
