Course content
The midwife's care of the labouring woman with prolonged childbirth. The midwife's care of the labouring woman with epidural analgesia. The midwife's care of the labouring woman with an irregular course of the 3rd stage of labour. The midwife's care of the labouring woman with bleeding. The midwife's care of the labouring woman with an infectious disease. The midwife's care of the labouring woman giving birth to a dead foetus.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with irregularities and complications during childbirth. This is an extraordinarily important issue that requires, in practice, a well-coordinated midwife-physician team addressing serious obstetric complications.
Students use knowledge of the issue of irregular birth in comprehensive care for individual needs of the labouring woman. Students are able to use special examination methods that are part of a specialized nursing care in the delivery room.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Completing assigned written work (development and defence - seminar work, presentation, group work, model nursing plan, educational material, case study). Successful completion of an oral examination.
