Course content
Needs Analysis. Getting started in Research. Summarizing Skills. Resumé or CV and CL. Materials Technology. Smart Materials. Discussing Quality Issues. Components and Assemblies. Writing an Abstract. Peer Review I. Peer Review II. Describing Positions of Assembled Components. Oral presentations of research projects. Oral presentations of research projects. Self-reflection Analysis. Summative written test comprising the standardized test items relevant to the content of the course.

Learning outcomes
The subject is aimed to enable the students to deepen and expand the knowledge and skills they acquired in all components of the communicative language competence during their preceding studies, when they achieved the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). It reflects the principles of ESP course design. Communicative language competence is further developed by means of collaboartion and communication in the eLearning environment of LMS Moodle and Mahara. The subject includes skill training enabling students to create and present their research outcomes in the form of a scientific poster.
The student can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics in the field of general English as well as ESP. He/she can interact spontaneously in the spoken language, can produce detailed text and explain a viewpoint on a wide range of subjects. The target level of the course is B1. Module Academic Speaking: the student can give an oral presentation of the objectives, methods and results of his/her own scientific project.
Prerequisites
Communicative competence on the CEFR A2 level in general English.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Student portfolio analysis

1)Portfolio of several assignments covering abstract writing, self-reflection creation and peer-review of 200-300 words in total. 2)The student gives an oral presentation of his/her own project, using visual support (e.g. Prezi, PowerPoint, Vimeo, atd.). The presentation lasts 10-15 minutes.
