Learning activities and teaching methods
unspecified, Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
The course closely follows the course Fundamentals of Hematology and provides an overview of the most common pathophysiological entities in clinical practice, including disorders of hemostasis. Emphasis is placed on the pathophysiological conditions associated with blood cell diseases: i.e. hematopoietic blood cell diseases, disorders of erythrocytes and platelets, disorders of the white blood cell, including hematopoietic tumors. The subject provides information on the clinical significance of individual examinations and how to interpret the results. In the transfusion section, the emphasis is placed on knowledge of transfusion preparations (types, biological effects, correct manufacturing practice), transfusion techniques, prevention and diagnosis of post-transfusion complications, blood derivatives, indications for the administration of transfusion preparations and therapeutic hemapheresis. Seminars are used to practice the discussed topics with specific case reports, an overview of indicated laboratory examinations and evaluation of their results in a clinical context.

Prerequisites
