Course content
Word stress. Phonetic alphabet. Phonetic terminology. Sentence stress and pauses. Rhythm and melody. A - vowels. E - vowels. I - vowels. Ö mutation. Ü mutation. R - consonants. Frikativs.

Learning outcomes
Students have to master both the theoretical and the practical rules of correct German pronunciation and intonation. They get to know the definition of phonetics, including terminology. The attention is paid to practical exercises to learn correct German pronunciation. Listening exercises with authentic recordings will be included in the seminar. Students manage correct German pronunciation.

Phonetically correct reading of an unknown text. 80% attendance at seminars.
