Course content
Basic concepts in research, types of research, research process. Evidence-based nursing, contemporary initiatives in the field of nursing research. Search in Czech and foreign literature in the field of nursing research, quality of literature in the field of nursing research. Ethics in research. Basic analysis of a research paper - quantitative research. Basic analysis of a research paper - qualitative research. Methods of translation of research tools. Applying research findings into practice: types of projects for innovation of care. Identifying problems in nursing practice, which can be solved within the project of applying research findings. Obtaining support for the project of applying research findings into practice. Implementation of the project of applying research findings into practice. Project of applying research findings into practice: measurement of results, evaluation, sustenance, expansion, and termination of innovation. Search in literature in the field of nursing research. Quality of literature in the field of nursing research. Analysis of results of a research published in a source available to public (e.g. in the press). Basic analysis of a research paper - quantitative research. Basic analysis of a research paper - qualitative research. Evidence-based nursing - problems associated with its implementation in health care facilities. Identifying and description of problems in nursing practice, which can be solved within the project of applying research findings, Project of applying research findings into practice.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the principles of searching for the results of nursing research, with the analysis of research articles and with the basic principles of the application of research results into practice.
Students are able to identify research problems in the nursing practice, are familiar with the accessible literature, correctly analyze the published results and based on the analysis, they apply research results to practice.

Student performance assessment

meet the 50% attendance at lectures. Compliance with mandatory 80% active participation in the class. Fulfilling assigned written work.
