Introduction - methodology of the course. Basic grammar characteristics of the contemporary Czech and Bulgarian. Old Slavonic and its importance for Czech-Bulgarian language relations. The meaning and "discovering" of the Bulgarian language in the time of the National Revival. Bulgarian and Czech language question in the time of the National Revival. "Czech cultural invasion" in Bulgaria and the language question. Bulgarian literature in the Czech lands - linguistic aspects. Konstantin Jireček and the Czech-Bulgarian (language) relations. The tradition of the Czech-Bulgarian linguistic research. The teaching of Bulgarian in the Czech Lands and Czech in Bulgaria. The relation of "language and socium" in Bulgaria and Czech Lands. Contemporary language situation in Bulgarian a Czech.

The objective of the course is to introduce the students in the Czech-Bulgarian linguistic contacts. The course is focused on the language phenomenons, typical for Bulgarian. The tradition of Bulgarian language education in the Czech lands and Czech language in Bulgaria is the other topic.
Student will gain the overview about Czech-Bulgarian contacts in linguistics and the traditions of Bulgarian language studies in Czech lands and Czech language studies in Bulgaria. |
