Interdisciplinary character of Slavonic studies Languages and literature in cultural and historical context The concept of "nation" a cultural identity Area conception Elements of comparative approach Genetic connections Typological connections Comparison of paradigms Questions of literary culture Process of creating, diffuse and perception of literature The role of archetypes, stereotypes, topoi a symbols Development of Slavonic studies in Czech surrounding New trends in Slavonic comparative studies

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the subject of interdisciplinary philological, cultural and historical inquiry, and its methods, with special regard to area conception of Slavonic studies and its relations toward the integration process of European Union. Students will obtain the overview of ways, bringing the understanding for the cultural heritage of Slavic nations.
Students will acquire general knowledge and skills of interdisciplinary character, which could be used to deepen the study and for public promotion of archive documents, historical facts and cultural connections, associate with the idea of European integration, and also with the need of intensifying the national peculiarity of Slaves.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation

Regular attendance (70%), writing some notes from the scientific literature, a short written paper concerning own experience with the cross-boarder contacts, a final oral exam.
