Course content
The foundations of Slovenian prose in the 2nd half of the 19th century Conceptions of Slovenian literature in the 2nd half of the 19th century. (Levstik, Stritar, Gregorčič, Aškerc) Modernism in the end of the 19th century - poetry, prose, drama Potentials and conceptions of Slovenian avant-garde. Interwar prose between realism and modernism. The influence of ideologies on literature. Literary personalities after WW II. The second avant-garde in the 1960s, ludism, the group OHO. The arrival of postmodernism in the 1980s. Present trends in Slovenian literature.

Learning outcomes
This lecture presents an outline of Slovenian literature. The lecture also emphasizes a comparative aspect, a relationship to Czech literature and personalities who were important for mutual relations (F. L. Čelakovský, F. Prešeren, O. Berkopec, F. Benhart). A special attention will be paid to periods which were mythologising Sloveniandom and Slovenian literature, to national revival and to 20th century literature. The lecture is the continuation of lecture Slovenian literature I.
Students will get an outline of basic characteristic features of literary development in Slovenia, of the most important meeting points with the Czech literature and of personalities who created mutual literary relations.
