Course content
Introduction, basic concepts of health law, references. Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Human Rights. Legal anchoring of the position of a patient and a close person. Socio-economic security in the health and social sphere, public health insurance. Legal status of health service providers. Professional chambers, compulsory membership. Right to receive information and duty of confidentiality, informed consent, notification duty. Legal regulation of medicines. Legal regulation of advertising in the health sector. Liability for the provision of health care. Internet information resources in the field. Convention on Biomedicine and Health Services Act. Codes of ethics for the health professions, protection of rights and dignity of the patient. Legislation in the health sector. Act No. 220/1991 Coll. Informed consent, duty of confidentiality and notification. Business in pharmacy. Legal regulation and ethical self-regulation of advertising in healthcare. Analysis of the relation between private law and criminal liability in the healthcare sector using practical examples. Legal status of the health and social worker.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to comprehensively acquaint the student with the basic issues of private, public, health, family and criminal law in order to be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the practice of a health and social worker.
Students learn the given issues in the scope of the syllabus of lectures and seminars and apply their knowledge in practical activities of a health and social worker.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Work-related product analysis

Specified compulsory attendance in seminars and lectures. Passing a written test or an oral exam, or other conditions, as decided by the course guarantor. Preparation and presentation of 2 assignments. Preparation of a petition submitted to a court or a public administration body.
