Course content
Europe and the World after the First World War. Versailles peace settlement. Russian Revolution and the civil war. USSR in 1920's. The formation of Czechoslovakia. The history of the First Czechoslovak Republic. Stalinism as a Civilization. USSR in 1929-1939. The Crisis of Parlamentarian Regimes in the Inter-war Europe. The International Relations in 1930's. The Crisis of the Versailles settlement (1933-1939). The Second World War (1939-1945). Czechoslavia and the Eastern Bloc in 1945-1953. Czechoslavia and the Eastern Bloc in 1953-1968. Czechoslavia and the Eastern Bloc in 1969-1989. The Cold War and the Soviet-American relations (1945-1991).

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is analysis and interpretation by means of the discussion of selected problems from the history of the 20th century, and based on the lectures for the course "The History of the 20th Century". The students will be led to work with domestic and foreign literature and edited sources.
Students will be able to work independently with Czech and foreign published sources and literature, to elaborate, present and discuss some concrete topic.

Credit is dependent on active participation in the seminars. In the case of more than three absences per term, an oral colloquium will be required. Passing a test (at least 70%).
