Methods of social distinctions, relations between doctors and patients, specialization of spa 3)Infrastructure and creation of space in a spa? Ways of shaping the spa area, consistency with the development of travel and traveling infrastructure 4)Professions in spa industry. Barbers, maids, spa owners 5)Gender aspects related to the history of the spa. Bath as marriage market 6)Spa as a closed body? Relations of spa visitors to the outside world, references to the spa in the media and spa discourses 7)Nationalization of the spa? Learning outcomes
|
Aim of the course History of the spa is to provide students the knowledge of the emerging historiographical research of spa history as well as sociological analysis of the temporary spa problematics. Presentation of the key historiographical works of foreign (German, English, French) origin and their results. Students will prepare for the discussion from the specified materials. Lessons will aim on the integration of the research trends with their application to the historical sources of Czech origin. Students will create in the frame of teamwork essays, which will be published in the form of internet presenatation.
Students will to develop their critical thinking skills, improve their teamwork abillities. They will acquire knowledge of current historical research relating to the history of the spas and will be able to use this knowledge in research work with the historical sources.

Passive knowledge of English or German speech.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Home assignment evaluation, Systematic monitoring
Individual preparation for the seminar from the sepcified materials (via Stag). Participating in team work output in the form of essays, based on the acquired knowledge of current research methods and their application on the historical sources, related to the history of spa in the Bohemian Lands. The final work will be published on a website.
