Course content
|
1) Databases and sources of relevant information for historians, Czech National Bibliography, Project Scriptorium, Kramerius, Boolean operators 2) International databases - JSTOR, ProQuest, Ebsco, etc. 3) citation indexes - Scopus, Web of Science. 4) Workspace and editing options of Adobe Photoshop 5) Editing tools of Adobe Photoshop - colours and filters. 6) Editing tools of Adobe Photoshop - layers. 7) CMS editing software for web pages x HTML and WSIWGET editing software (Adobe Dreamweaver). 8) Issue and preparation of materials for pulictaion in Adobe Indesign I. - workspace and editing of pictrures. 9) Issue and preparation of materials for publication in Adobe Indesign II. - inserts and editing of text documents. 10) Preparation of materials for publication in Adobe Indesign III. - combination of pictures and text documents. 11) Preparation of materials for publication in Adobe Indesign IV. - final project. 12) Presentation of student´s achievments.

Learning outcomes
|
Lectures are aimed on teaching IT skills useful in the process of research in the field of humanities and social sciences, especially history. Students will be familiar with the types of programs and databases commonly used in libraries, archives, museums and other institutions of such type - graphics editors (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign), basics of creation of internet presentations (Adobe Dreamweaver), database programs and will be able to use acquired skills and information in presentation of his own research activities.
Students will acquire skills to operate with the basic techniques and mediums of contemporary informatics society. Digital databases, audio-visual reproduction systems and software, creative design and presentation software.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of using software based on the Windows operating system

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Work-related product analysis
Participation in seminars with tolerance of 3 absences. Credit will be granted for comprehensive project, which will include the presentation of acquired skills and knowledges in practical presentation on the example of project from historical domain (publication, presentation, etc).
