Course content
National and European history in the context of world development from the end of the 15th till the beginning of the 17th century. There is a focus on the broader historical context and on overall changes: Europe at the beginning of the Early Modern Period, Czech countries at "the breakpoint of the ages", the Reformation, and the historical and economic impacts of transatlantic discoveries; community of estates and absolutism, "The Third Way", and over-confessional Christianity in European politics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the basic chronological-territorial outline of national and European history in the context of world development from the end of the 15th to the middle of the 17th century. It will focus on the broader historical context and overall changes: Europe at the beginning of the Early Modern Period; economic impacts of transatlantic discoveries; the community of estates and absolutism; religious, artistic, and ideal movements; Humanism, Renaissance, Mannerism, etc. Students will be able to stay oriented on questions of development in the Early Modern Period, and will become familiar with the latest research trends in historical science and will be able to work with secondary literature for the epoch, including important interdisciplinary cues.
Students will be able to orientate in basics of social history of early modern era, will discuss the most recent trends of historical writing, will get to learn basic secondary literature as well as main interdisciplinary possibilities.
