Learning outcomes
Introduction to Cultural History II. is aimed at demonstrating the wide range of approaches, which were used by the main authorities in the framework of cultural history. During lessons the study group will focus on specific types of methodological approaches, theoretical concepts and thematic groups between the most important works of cultural history historiography both, foreign and Czech origin. The objective will be to demonstrate how the authors were using different types of historical sources.
Emphasis will be placed on development of critical thinking skills, in particular also on the ability of understanding to the value and content of historical texts and the subsequent establishing own opinion on the main issues. The ability to construct special text will be a prerequisite for passing the final exam.
Prerequisites
Previous completion of the course Introduction to Cultural History I. Passive knowledge of English, German or French.

Assessment methods and criteria
Creative work analysis

Student will be evaluated on the basis of written essay and its oral defense. For the composing of essays will be reserved the final hour, the topic will be announced to students one week in advance. In the essay students have to respond to the specific historical document related to the notified thematic issue. By the composing of essay can students use any available resources except internet (open book exam).
