Course content
Basic terms, data and its quality, information and its definition, the information system, a brief introduction to essentials of the theory of systems. Informatization of public administration, eGovernment in CR and EU (eEurope, SmartAdministration). EGovernment Act, hexagon, basic registries, data boxes, communication infrastructure, CzechPoint. Modelling of processes. Classification of information systems. System integration. Alternatives of information system solving. Life cycle of the information system development. Methodology of the information system development, MDIS. Management projects of information systems. Quality of information systems. IS MUNIS and IS LCS Helios IQ - practical examples of presented functions.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with essentials of information systems with a special focus on the whole life cycle with the stronger emphasis on the analytic phase and links with related problems (for example data quality, legal point of view, security, architecture). Furthermore, problems of e-Government and the contemporary state of the information process in public administration in the Czech Republic and the European Union are also presented.
Student will be able to play an active role in projects of implementation of information and communication technologies in both public administration and private companies.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of data modelling and database systems. Basic knowledge of flowchart diagrams.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Assignment: is granted upon elaboration of all given tasks and defence of aproject. Examination: written (at minimum 65 %) and oral part.
