History of bridges - evolution and importance of bridge engineering Codes, standards in the field of bridges Bridge types Design of bridges - basic principles, documentation Architecture and aesthetics of bridges Bridge substructure Superstructure of concrete bridges Superstructure of steel bridges Composite bridges Arch bridges Timber bridges Bridge equipment Maintenance, reparation and reconstruction of bridges

Learning outcomes
The aim is to teach students basic knowledge of bridges engineering. In the course are students introduced into design principles and evaluation of bridges. The teaching is focused mainly on construction solutions, evaluation procedures, fabrication and erection technology, material of bridge structures, constructions units and bridge equipment.
After graduation are students able to define given bridge structure in light of engineer design, determine simplified calculation approaches. Students are able to work as building inspectors, building inspectors or in other areas connected to bridges.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of "Structural Mechanics I, II, III " and "Strength of Materials I" is demanded.

Written examination

Exam from object (form, content, continuation) is fixed term conformable with educational and examination order.
