The aim of this course is to introduce the basic outline of style development in Czech and European art in the period from Humanism and the Renaissance until the entry of modern art in the first part of the 20th century. The subject-matter explanation stresses the role of leading artists and focuses on the ideological and socio-cultural background of the origin and the specific works of individual artistic movements.
Students will obtain a basic orientation in the problems of art history in the Early Modern period and will become familiar with the stylistic attributes of individual styles.
