Course content
The practical internship is focused on outpatient care, midwifery care of pregnant women and women with risky pregnancies, care in the delivery rooms and in puerperium, care of newborns in the neonatal ward, care in the gynaecological ward including operating theatres, care in the woman's own social environment. Teaching takes place in hospital facilities, private practices and private midwives' offices. Teaching is under the guidance of an academic staff member of the FHS or a mentor/trainer of the practical internship. Performances carried out during the practical internship are recorded in the "Record of Professional Activities, Care and Education in Midwifery." Learning outcomes
The aim of the professional practice is to gain practical experience from real practice that is important for professional development and understanding the differences in meeting the needs of gynaecologically ill women, women with physiological, high-risk and pathological pregnancies, expectant mothers and puerperae. The subject is planned as a practical subject and it takes the form of block lessons lasting for at least 1 week in a piece.
Students will learn about the structure of midwifery care, the different forms of midwifery care in outpatient departments, one-day, inpatient and home health services, especially the organisation of health services in the context of care of women and children. They will learn basic midwifery skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student portfolio analysis

Fulfilment of the prescribed hours of practice at the workplace. Fulfilment of the prescribed procedures and processes in midwifery contained in the "Record of procedures and other professional processes in midwifery". Fulfilment of student's written reflection according to the guarantor's assignment. Practical and oral exam focused on complex client care in midwifery, planning and the implementation of the care through the midwifery process.
