Course content
The exam in foreign language 2 contents the presentation of a professional intention of the doctoral thesis, special literature studied for the exam and the interpretation of selected professional terms. A PhD student demonstrates the ability to use adequate stylistic and grammatical-lexical formulations connected with the presentation, adequate reactions within the interview with examiners. The knowledge of the language at least at the level of the attestation within full-time undergraduate studies is required (the exam of A2+ level).

Learning outcomes
The exam in a foreign language in doctoral studies tests linguistic competences of a PhD student in some of world languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Russian).
Students understand main ideas of intelligible standard language concerning common topics that they can regularly meet at work, at school, in their leisure time and so on. They are able to cope with most situations that can happen when travelling in the area where the language is spoken. Students can write a simple coherent text on the topics that they are familiar with or they are personally interested in. They are able to describe events and their own experiences.

During the preparation for the exam, PhD students will choose professional texts to read, in the range of 100 - 150 pages, according to their own choice (in case of need after consulting with a tutor or examiner); the selection of at least 2 publication whose author is a native speaker is recommended. Berofe a final oral exam, a PhD student submits written materials in an appropriate foreign language at the before set-up time (at least 10 - 14 days before the oral exam). Supposed range of the work: 5 - 10 pages (e. g. MS Word, size 14, cca 60 keystrokes x 30 lines). The working paper must content: 1. professional curriculum vitae - a structured text and a coherent text (2 pages maximum) 2. the summary of the read up literature submitted to the exam. Texts must be provided with bibliographical data. Possible texts from the Internet must be provided with the bibliography too. 3. the interpretation of selected professional terms from the field of the topic of the dissertation thesis (5 - 10 subject words) 4. the intention of the own professional work (dissertation thesis)
