Course content
Topics: Communication - cultural differences Art and film Clothes and fashion Human character and its image in literature Nature and weather Grammar: Verbs - tenses and special paradigms and constructions Adjectives Modal verbs Ordinal numbers Expressing data and years Expressing mutuality Preposition constructions Conjunctions Negative verb constructions

Learning outcomes
Students will meet professional and academic texts - they will be able to interpret and translate them.
Students will gain the ability to give a presentation individually in oral form, to lead discussions in a study group.They will be able to work with academic texts, analyse and interpret them.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian at level A2 at least. At the beginning of semester, students can be tested and on the basis of the entrance test results, they can be redeployed to the course of a different language level according to CEFR.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment

Compulsory attendance will be monitored (80% at least). Absences need to be apologised for. Type of assessment: written test and oral exam (70% at least). Consultations are recommended.
