Course content
Basic technical description of the book The book market in the Czech Republic and abroad Introduction to typography Editorial work Publishing house - its structure and basic functions. From the manuscript to ready-made book. Production of the book and its distribution Marketing and promotion Economical minimum Legal enactments in publishing business The book industry and electronic media.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the activities connected with book publication: editorial work with the manuscript, its technological preparation before print, and distribution, sale and advertising of the book. The students also get acquainted with the organization of work in the contemporary publishing house as well as legal and economical aspects of this work and with other important facts.
The students will gather both basic information and practical skills in the subject field, that concerns all those wirking with texts.

The attendance is compulsory. The condition for acquiring credit is sufficient attendance (with a tolerated maximum of three absences per term) and active participation in the course.
