Course content
Postkolonialismus and decolonization in the literature, general literature, Central Europe as a literary fiction, diversity in literature, minority literature, national literature, comparative literature, Central European literature and folklore, journals, institutions, foundations, publishers. Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to map out the cultural phenomenon of Central Europe through the example of the coexistence and clashes of various ethnic cultures in Central Europe in the last decades of the 19th and the first decades of 20th century. This course is based on concrete texts that are further discussed and explained in lectures.
Students will acquire the basic orientation in literature written in German in Bohemia on the break of 19th and 20th century. They will get review of social, intellectual and spiritual background of the Prague Circle, and other authors from this period. They will be able to recognize specific features of writing of these authors, and to create an essay reflecting individual traits of certain text and to justify the opinion in discussion.
