Course content
Contents Knowing of material culture and social and cultural interactions between barbarian world and the Roman Empire will be stressed. ? history of research ? periodization ? written, epigraphic, iconographic, numizmatic sources ? material culture ? funeral rite and settlements ? élite in the Roman Period and in the Great Migration Period ? Roman presence above the Danube Roman troops organisation and recognition with Roman troops weaponry and equipment

Learning outcomes

Students get basic information about the Middle European history in the Roman Period and in the Great Migration Period. They familiarize with archeological finds, sources and literature.The class offers recognition of barbarian society and its comparison with Roman civilization.
Prerequisites
Passing the Archeologic Proseminar I and II (ARP1 and ARP2) and the History of Antiquity (STAR)
